Air Conditioner Reviews ordinarily take BTU and EER numbers into account. BTU stands for British Thermal Units, and these numbers may range from 5,000 to 18,000. The higher the BTU of an air conditioner, the more powerful it is at cooling. But it likewise increments the cost of the air conditioner. Normally, the BTU of an air conditioner required for cooling a room is calculated by multiplying the square foot area of the room by 35.
EER stands for Energy Efficiency Ratio. These numbers indicate the amount of energy they consume. An air conditioner with a higher EER will use less energy and consequently will save cash on electricity bills. EER numbers range from 8.2 to 10.5.
The brand leaders in the air conditioner market are Carrier, Kenmore, Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, Sharp, Panasonic and Friedrich. All are available in a wide range of BTU and EER ratings. Carrier air conditioners are by far the best. They are known for their extreme noiseless function, quick cooling and long lives of compressor and condenser. Carrier air conditioners are also the most pricey air conditioners in the market. Some of the newer Carrier models have substituted the environmentally destructive Freon-22 with Puron, a less polluting liquid.
Kenmore air conditioners also have splendid reviews in the air conditioner market. They are known for their high cooling capacities and exceedingly well modern EERs, which cut electricity costs. Also their designs are rather sleek and contemporary, giving them the added edge over other air conditioners.
Whirlpool and LG also have good reputations, but they do better business in Asia. They are both reliable, trusted brands with good quality air conditioners at a comparatively lower price.
Due to the tremendous contest in the market of air conditioners, each brand spends millions of dollars in researching and perfecting new features each summer. Friedrich air conditioners have produced a money-saver feature, which saves electricity bills by making the fan move in synchronization with the cycle of the air conditioner itself. Most companies now use dehumidifiers and fragrances in their air conditioning ducts to lend them an added appeal.

24/7 Power Sucker – Major Design Fail By J Mhr I just got the word from Friedrich that there are two choices for this thing.
Leave the fan on 24/7 (which is great if you like a breezy, noisy basement), or use the timer to turn it on and off.
The timer works like this:
When it’s off, you set the # of hours to stay off until it turns on.
When it’s on, you set the # of hours to stay on until it turns off.
Then you do it again.
And again.
And again.
And over and over until either you, or the dehumidifier, dies, because it WON’T KEEP THE SETTING!
The old units would do not forget the setting and if you get a salesman, like I did, who has an old one, he will assume that Friedrich had more sense than to redesign the feature to it’s present worthless, uselessness. But he would be wrong.
They did do that.
Otherwise, it looks very nice. The fan is only noisy when you realize it will never turn off on it is own, unless you’re more than willing to become it is timer slave.
What a waste. Very disappointed.
This applies to their present D series, D25, D50 and D70.
Brilliant move, Freddy.

Works well to dehumidify By Bridget Rupe This bugger does the occupation I have a little house 1200 square feet and I live in a swamp so it is hot nasty and humid 80% of the year it reduces the humidity in my house down to 30% if i put it on that setting ordinarily it is on 45% so not anyone gets a nosebleed and headaches for being too arid and it takes 12 hours to fill the bucket mind you the humidity here is in regards to 80% or more most days it is a godsend. The built in pump hose makes it easy if i will be out for days I run the hose to my sink and it wont shut off because it drains not filling the bucket. The only downside to this is that the timer does suck and you may set it to turn off in ?? hours and then when you want it back on you have to set the timer to turn on in so galore hours unless you just want it on right away which is a pain because I would forget it turned off. Most of the time I don’t bother with the timer I just let it run and check it each 8 or so hours if the hose isn’t connected. The humidity is so high here that if it isn’t running the humidity starts to creep up so it is pointless to not let it run and it is an energy star ranked so it doesn’t use much electricity. It comes with a 1 year fixed warranty and 5 years on the cooling fan refrigerant etc all the parts that make it run so i find that for the cash it was a outstanding deal and does the occupation nicely. It is a noisy as a regular box fan but this does not bother me though it may bother others just fyi regarding the noise.Ive had this for one month so far so good.
