Buyer Beware

Most reviews are for items not long ago purchased, so you don’t get much of an idea when it comes to longer term reliability of a product line. We purchased an LG Mod. LHD45EL, the older version of the LD450EAL, in 2006. The old and new models look identical, so we may conclude that the same basic design is still being used today by LG. Of course these units are made overeas probably by whatsoever lowest bidding manufacturer LG could find, and who ever heard of LG before anyway? I doubt that this company has ever fictitious anything, but is rather a distributor of cheap asian products. Anyway, the LG we got lasted for a summer and a half before the refrigeration factor of the unit quit. We requested warrantee service from LG and were directed to take the unit to a local warrantee service shop who told us it would have to be returned to LG by us. We received a reconditioned substitute after a couple weeks and that one lasted another summer and a half before it too quit with apparently the same problem. It is apparent based upon our experience and that of a lot of other discontented reviewers that LG dehumidifiers are poorly designed and manufactured. If you buy one of these, you will be lucky to get more than a year or so use out of it. The only positive thing I may say is that LG substituted the faulty unit, but the substitute was likewise defective!

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!

I purchased this product a year ago and 3 days after the (1 year) warranty ran out it stopped working. The dehumidifier actually only ran for six months before winter. It did not run all winter and only not so long ago kicked on after a damp spring. Since it is LGs policy NOT to extend warranties beneath any circumstance, I highly commend that you run away from purchasing this product.
I ought to likewise mention that this was the 2nd LG dehumidifier I had purchased in 3 years. Like the rest of you, I rely on client reviews. Unfortunately, most reviews are written in the introductory few weeks and months after the product is purchased when everything is running fine. Save your cash and look at something else!!

These LG and thier off brands are terrible

Mine lasted only 18 months. Like the rest of the reviews, the fan runs, LED works, reads humidity, it does everything but gather water. A local fix shop that deals distinctively with these had an employee tell me they had over 35 units brought in for repairs last year. Terrible product.
