Humidifier Installation Furnace Terminals

Fits 600 Series, 700 Series, 560 Series. 350 and 360 units. Water Panel Evaporators are the heart of your humidifier and the element which generates the important humidity to keep you comfortable for the duration of the heating season. The water panel slides into the scale control insert and the water distribution tray sits all over the top of the panel.

We will be talking about the installation of an Aprilaire 600 Bypass Evaporative Pad Humidifier on a natural gas furnace which operates on 120 volts. Heat Pump Air Handlers and Electric Furnaces operate at 240-240 Volts and are in all likelihood best left to the professionals. If you don’t have a floor drain you may need to consider the Aprilaire 400 which re circulates it’s own water. Even altho it is more highpriced upfront, it won’t require a condensate pump to drain the water! If you don’t want to, or have not got room for adding any duct work, you may need the Aprilaire 700 which uses no duct work. All this said however, we feel the Aprilaire 600 is the BEST unit in general, IF WE CAN USE IT! The Aprilaire 600 type, by passes air from your supply air trunk or plenum, which then flows through the humidifier and back into your cold air return trunk or return drop. A vertical water panel will have water flowing down it, when there is a call for humidity, the hot air from your supply air will evaporate this water and put it into your home. A humidistat will be installed in your return duct to sense when humidity is in truth needed. There will be a drain line attached to the bottom of the humidifier which will carry off excess water and any built up solid homogeneous inorgani substances from the last cycle. This draining feature makes these types much more salubrious and likewise require very little maintenance. The other types of humidifiers will require more cleaning.

WHAT TOOLS WILL I NEED?

A Volt/Ohm meter is helpful and will have to be used if you have one, but we have included a simple way to be sure the power is off further on. The 1/4″ nut driver, a little pocket flat head screwdriver, adaptable wrench, pliers, 1/4″ tubing cutters and sheet metal cutters are a MUST. A hammer will come in handy for starting a hole in the sheet metal with the edge of a screwdriver.

THE A 50 RELAY

If you have an old furnace you will in all probability need to install a relay which will only let the humidifier run if the furnace blower is running so that you don’t rust out the bottom of your furnace from over humidification. This relay is an Aprilaire A50 Relay. So introductory lets see if you need the relay. Go to your furnace and shut the main power off either at the switch near the furnace or by shutting off the main circuit breaker or removing the fuse at the main electrical panel. Remove the blower door and see if you have a Printed Circuit Board. If you have a Printed Circuit Board look to see if there are terminals marked HUM ( stands for humidifier ). If you have this terminal we will now need to find out if this terminal is supplying 24 volts or 120 volts.

Quality filter, low cost

You may spend $$$ to have your heating and cooling persons come replace your humidifier filter, or you may buy this and do it yourself.

The box has clear instructions and it takes zero intelligence. It’s in regards to as hard as cleaning the lint filter in your dryer- the divergence is you just toss out the old filter and replace with the new, obviously. From start out to finish, it takes when it comes to three and a half minutes.

You must replace this filter no less many times than once a year.

Product delivered was NOT OEM product pictured.

I purchased this product thinking I would get what was pictured, an OEM Aprilaire water panel. Instead I received a knock off product sold elsewhere on Amazon.com for $5. The product I received was an RPS Products BestAir Water Pad RPS #A35 Furn Humidifier Water Pad. I feel ripped off.

Amazon did speedily refund my buy price as I did not get what I was promised. Amazon is conscious that myself and others have had this bait and switch problem and I hope they update the picture and description to reflect you are not getting an OEM product as pictured.

I do not perceive why humans who were scammed still gave this product a good review. This is not what you ordered and remunerated for. I would give it zero stars if that was possible.

Buy this and save $$$

After years of paying for maintenance on my humidifier along with my heater and air conditioner, I at long last realized that all they were actually doing was charging me to check and replace the water panel. It’s a very simple thing to do yourself.

This product seems to be identical to what I was replacing, so there’s no issue with quality.

The only thing to be conscious of is that this holds ONLY the water panel, and not the plastic housing. Not a big deal as you may just slide the old one out and the new one in.
