Wanted it to work out… but just too noisy.
By D. Wood
I purchased this for my creep space a few weeks ago. We’ve had dampness issues and with all the Atlanta area flooding/rain, I figured it would be an asset. I’m sure it is doing numerous good with air motion but it’s so darn earsplitting in spite of having interchanged it once already and making sure to install it to manufacturer’s specs. From the reviews I had read, I expected to not listen this at all. However, in my basically ranch style home with a 3-4 foot tall creep space, it’s as piercing or louder than my A/C. Even my wife who commonly thinks I blow things out of symmetry and am too sensative thought it was just too noisy, specially at night.
I’ll in all probability move it to the a far corner of my home and set it for “biblical floods” only, the humidistat at 80 percent or higher. I’d give it one commence but I’m sure it is moving air beneath the house, so it’s in all probability doing 2 stars worth of good-but at a price.

Be careful where you mount this beast !
By Wayne
I too had high hopes that this device would “quietly” mitigate the humidity (RH) levels in our 2000 sq. ft. concrete-enclosed 42″ creep space.
Our Tjernlund V2D device is totally apart from the wood floor joists (mounted directly & with rubber bushings, onto the top concrete foundation wall and up into the joist cavity, without touching any wood). Different foundation vent emplacements where tried but in each of them and in the quiet of the night we could unquestionably listen the run of the twin fans in our living areas upstairs, even beneath to a considerable degree insulated hardwood floors.
We’ve since _compromised_ on a vent emplacement that is more remote from main living or bedroom areas.
To be clear, the V2D does seem to move along it is ranked amount of air, but at the expense of velocity noise (and frequency vibration if contacting any house structural components).
Another observation: the enclosed humidistat seems to sense the RH just at it is mounted emplacement — the foundation vent. This have a tendancy to skew the results for the rest of the creep space. It has to be set way too high in order to match the digital hygrometer reading that is installed further into the creep space area. To support solve that problem of always being ‘on’, my plan is to now distinguished the humidistat from the V2D unit and mount that factor further into the creep space as well.
At primary I was impressed with the build quality and value of this unit. In fact, when initial checking the device while being handheld it provided no clue (except it’s undertake to levitate) as to any difficulties that would arise when actually mounted in application : it spun very solidly.
Perhaps the sting of the buy could have been partially addressed by purchasing as discerned fan and humidistat units ..and of course, thinking very hard regarding the amount of _quietness_ I was prepared to give up. And yes, it would have been rather helpful to have read more goal to be attained remarks on this type of device before purchasing.

Good Product

Installed two of these in my creep space. They work well, run fine, and are well made. Initially, I had a great deal of noise issues and determined it was the vibration from the fans running. Fairly easy to fix, just isolate from the frame of the house. I used a heap of strips of foam and rubber-covered washers and that solved the noise problem.
