Lack of quality controll
By Peter G. Colby
New, out of the box, I turned this dehumidifier on and what a noise it made.
I got rid of the cabinet from around the unit and found that the fan blades were striking the top of the compreser. Because the threads of two of the three bolts that hold the compresser in place were stripped and the nuts could not be tightened down on those bolts thence the compresser leaned over to get itself underneath the fan blades. I added washers to the bolts so that the nuts didn’t have as far to go to tighten and re-applied the nuts which pulled the compresser upright and now the fan blades don’t hit. The person who installed those compresser nuts had to recognise they had stripped the bolts but sent it out to the client anyway.
Now, two days later and the pump doesn’t pump.
I’ve written DeLonghi telling them that I will ship the unit at my expense to either DeLonghi or Amazon, their choice but that I wanted my cash back.
I’ll keep you posted.
Pete

This is a outstanding Dehumidifier
By Suzie Cue
Despite the negative review of this product, I decisive to undertake it since it had all the features I was looking for. Especially the pump. I purchased this for my Mom who not long back moved and the basement was damp and smelly. The former proprietor left a Sears dehumidifier but it did not remove a drop of water from the air. I had an old Edison one that I lent my Mom. It worked fine but if you didn’t put the bucket in the precise proper position, it would overflow. Since my Mom is a senior citizen, I wanted one that would mechanically pump the water into the utility sink she had in the basement. So, this Delonghi met this crucial criteria to me.
After with regards to three weeks of use, I have not one thing but praise for this product. It is very quiet and has a long hose. It may pump the water up to ten feet high and it does this magnificently. You may also program it and adjust the amount of humidity you want to remove.
The basement no longer smells and you may set this dehumidifier up and forget with regards to it. It removes a lot of water within a short amount of time of time (depending on the humidity level you set it for and the amount in the air) and then shuts off when it reaches the setting. Since we got it we have not had to even concern ourselves with it at all. There was utterly no problem setting it up. I would commend this product to anyone.

2 broken out of the box
By alan chan
I in the first place purchased this unit because it claimed to be quiet. Quiet doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work. The original unit ran for 2 days and accumulated only a cup of water, while my older unit on the other side of the basement fills in 3 days. The second unit keeps freezing up. It would blow out super hot air and the humidistat would display an unusually high %; when you turn it off, the coils would melt and drip water. The box claims that it has a self deice cycle, but it did not work. The box also claims it’s good for basements because it may work at temps as low as 50deg. Their tech aid said that at 70deg. you need to set it to 50% or higher or it will freeze, and the deice cycle may not be relied upon. My basement smells finelooking bad at 45% and higher. My new Frigidair works great.
